Welcome!
Thank you for visiting artful embellishments. This is the third year for this blog and I am so happy to keep publishing. I started in 2011 and began with a quilt of the week, this lead to the leaf of the week for my newly designed paper tree that is located on the wall of my garage in 2012.......2013 is going to bring a lot of excitement and positive change. As a personal challenge for 2013, I plan on designing a artist trading card each week to be featured on the blog.
With so many interests, there will be quilting, art quilting, leaves (and more leaves), as well as experiments in thermofax screen printing, fabric dying, and tons of DIY recycle projects. I may even enter that altered fashion scene. To a happy and healthy 2013, may we all find happiness in those things we create....thank you for stoping by artful embellishments.

Where will you be five years from today?
The book Where will you be five years from today? is such a great book. I have had it for over a year and it is one of those things I go back to every time I have a few minutes. It is like your favorite treat. If you don't own this book you should. It is full of great pushes to change your life. I would have to say I am a doer and a completer. I usually start what I finish and really have not been too afraid to try new artistic endeavors. This book though really pushes you to think about where you will be in 5 years. There are quotes from all sorts of famous people in this book, even Dr. Seuss. (Now there is a wise soul to journal about.....) Sometimes I feel like I don't spend as much time creating as I would like. I realize that this is my own fault. However, if I start feeling like I am busy, I absolutely bow down to this quotation by J. Jackson Brown, Jr. (Author of Life's Little Instruction Book....another must have.) "Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Louis Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein." I will feature some amazing quotes from this book, you really should go buy yourself a copy as a treat to yourself.......So seriously Where will YOU be five years from today?
