Hope everyone is surviving winter. I finally got my internet fixed so I should be able to post in a more timely fashion. This was last weeks quilt journal. It is fashioned after a technique featured on quilting arts TV by Alisa Burke (http://www.alisaburke.com/). The "fabric" is actually made from recycled plastic grocery bags. Place a few bags between a non-stick heat resistant surface. Iron the bags so they melt to form a thicker piece of plastic. Continue with the bags until you achieve the desired thickness. Keep the labels on the inside to keep the paint from melting onto the surface. After you finish ironing, allow the plastic to cool. Paint with fabric paint as that doesn't separate from the plastic. Then embellish with stamps, pens, fabric, stitch, and stencils. The instructions on Quilting Arts TV are outstanding, and Alisa has an amazing website! Her video "Creating Vivid Mixed Media Fabric" is also amazing and gives so many valuable tips.
