Welcome!

Thank you for visiting artful embellishments. This is the third year for this blog and I am so happy to keep publishing. I started in 2011 and began with a quilt of the week, this lead to the leaf of the week for my newly designed paper tree that is located on the wall of my garage in 2012.......2013 is going to bring a lot of excitement and positive change. As a personal challenge for 2013, I plan on designing a artist trading card each week to be featured on the blog.
With so many interests, there will be quilting, art quilting, leaves (and more leaves), as well as experiments in thermofax screen printing, fabric dying, and tons of DIY recycle projects. I may even enter that altered fashion scene. To a happy and healthy 2013, may we all find happiness in those things we create....thank you for stoping by artful embellishments.

Recycle 1-ArtChix ATC Valentine Day Swap

Well the recycling projects are on! The first order of business was to participate in an ATC swap. I must admit, I was in serious withdrawal. So Nikki Smith was kind enough to host an art swap. So combining recycled card board, old dictionary pages and some of ArtCHix greats finds the Valentine Day Swap is on!
This valentine is NoteWorthy! This used some images from ArtChix, old magazine words, maps, and some fun stitching.
Passion contains one of my all time favorite images from ArtChix. Who doesn't want to be spoiled?
Loved contains images, stamps, washi tape, and old trim! Can't forget to add the 3D embellishments with a big ole heart!
Cherish has that vintage 50's pink. I love the softness. This has recycled papers from an old book. I love picking up these old books at a store in Northern Michigan. It is called Bethesda. It is a resale shop that support schools in Northern Michigan. They have the BEST old books. I love getting the books that are partially destroyed as they are the cheapest and have the most interesting pages. Sometimes they have hand written marks in them!
Hearts was made from a piece of cardboard from a diet coke 12 pack! I painted this with acrylic paints in big strips then cut them with my Sizzix Die Cute into the ATC shape. Adding images from ArtChix seals the valentine.
Valentine features my favorite birds. I think birds are so beautiful and delicate.
Who can exist without love? This was done with an old paper towel that had paint placed on it when I was cleaning my brush. I absolutely love this background. There is texture and random color. Celebrate your love for art everyday. XOXO
